Nominees At The 18th Korean Music Awards Unveiled: BTS Receives Five Nominations

BTS has earned five nominations at the 18th Korean Music Awards.

The K-Pop sensation has been nominated for Musician of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Album and Best Pop Song categories, the award ceremonies' selection committee revealed in a press conference held Tuesday.

"Map of the Soul:7" is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album, "Dynamite" for Song of the Year and Best Pop Song, and the K-Pop group earned a nomination for Artist of the Year.

Here are the rest of the major nominees. 

Yerin Baek's "Every letter I sent you," Sunwoo Jung-a's "Serenade," LEENALCHI's "SUGUNGGA," Jeongmilla's "CheongPa Sonata," and Jo Dong-Ik's "Blue Pillow" are likewise nominated for Album of the Year.

Yerin Baek's "Square," Sunwoo Jung-a's "Run With Me," LEENALCHI "Tiger is Coming," and Zico's "Any Song" are also nominated for Song of the Year. 

Artist of the Year nominations include Yerin Baek, Sunwoo Jung-a, LEENALCHI, and Jeongmilla. Other categories at the Korean Music Awards are Rookie of the Year, Best Pop Album, Best Pop Song, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, and more. 

On February 28th, the winners will be unveiled at the Korean Music Awards. The ceremonies will be conducted at 6 p.m. KST at Nodeulseom in Seoul. It will be live-streamed online to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols. 

The Korean Music Awards recognizes albums and songs more than the artists. Instead of highlighting the sales, musical achievement is a crucial criterion in selecting the winners. The awards event aims to promote the advancement of Korean music without setting barriers between its mainstream and non-mainstream music. 

The winners will be announced at the 18th Korean Music Awards on February 28th at 6 p.m. KST at Nodeulseom in Seoul. The announcement will be live-streamed online.
