After the success of previous Disney live-action films "The Lion King," "Mulan," "Aladdin," "Cinderella," and so much more, it is now the turn of the under-the-sea story "The Little Mermaid" for the live-action.

It is one of the most controversial Walt Disney live-action films when it comes to choosing the actress to play Ariel, the Little Mermaid herself. There are fan-made trailers and videos that pitched "34+35" singer Ariana Grande to transform into the world's renowned mermaid who children and young at heart alike have come to love.

However, with the recent and official announcement from Disney revealing the cast of "The Little Mermaid," Disney viewers and fans will have to say farewell to their cast choices.

At the Disney Investor Day 2020, the entertainment conglomerate has revealed the actors and actresses portraying the roles of the all-time favorite characters in the movie.

Halle Bailey is playing Ariel, Daveed Diggs is reprising the role of Sebastian, Jonah Hauer-King is portraying Prince Eric, while Javier Bardem is portraying King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, "Crazy Rich Asians" star Akwafina playing the role of Scuttle, and Melissa McCarthy as the villain, Ursula.

Halley Bailey is known for her roles in the films "Last Holiday," "A Wrinkle In Time," and "Grown-ish." She will set on a journey to find her true love against all odds, even when challenged by the tentacled villain of the sea, Ursula.

Ursula will be reprised by award-winning actress, comedian, writer, producer, and fashion designer Melissa McCarthy who is known for her movies "Charlie's Angels," "Can You Ever Forgive Me?," "Gilmore Girls," and "Saturday Night Live."

Fans are raving about Disney's picks. Debby Jarman wrote on Facebook, "I think Kirsty Alley would've made a good Ursula, she's pretty much Ursula in that documentary spoof series she made. Her facial expressions and attitude are perfect for the role. Missed opportunity there as I don't see Miss M giving the villain the drive I feel Kirsty would deliver."

"The Little Mermaid" is a 1989 animated film by Walt Disney, and popularized songs like "Under The Sea," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Kiss The Girl," and "Part Of Your World."
