The whole world is mourning the loss of one of football's greatest players, Argentina's very own Diego Maradona. The soccer icon was only 60 years old, he died of a heart attack. It was the Argentine Football Association that confirmed the death of the star.

From the time he was young, Maradona already showed his prowess, earning the title "The Golden Boy", a moniker that has stayed with him for most of his career. Maradona played for many teams, including Barcelona and Napoli. He also played for his country in the World Cup.

It was in 1986 when he was the captain of the Argentina National Team when they won against Germany and earned their championship. While he earned the Golden Ball as the best player, the game was also infamous for the "Hand of God", which was a handling foul that was never penalized.

While he was hailed as a hero by many, he also had some failures as well. He was banned for failing a drug test and left his former team in Naples due to the scandal.

As news of his death was released, many prominent figures from all over the world shared their condolences and grief. The President of Argentina declared three days of mourning, and his remains can be viewed publicly at the Casa Rosada.

Meanwhile, his death is not without its controversies, with fingers being pointed that the case can be considered a homicide. Maradona's doctor, Leopoldo Luque, has denied medical negligence as the cause of the player's death.

He claims that people are trying to find someone to blame for his death after Diego's daughters questioned the medicines he was receiving. Luque operated on the soccer star a few weeks prior to his death. He underwent surgery for a brain blood clot. The surgery was reported to be succesful.
