Up against Gi Joon, his character in "Finding Mr. Destiny", was Choi Han Kyul from "Coffee Prince." At the end of the game, it was a competition between Han Kyul and Kim Shin from the popular "Goblin" drama.

Finally, Gong Yoo chose Kim Shin over Choi Han Kyul. According to him, the former was a more mature version of the latter. Kim Shin also had the most painful backstory, making him a memorable character for the actor.

As for his character in "Coffee Prince", Gong Yoo went on to give his thoughts on what he would be doing at this time. Soompi reports that he and Yoon Eun Hye's character Eun Kyung would not be at the cafe anymore. Instead, they would have moved to the suburbs and have had three kids by now.
