The rumors have been swirling for a few months now, but on November 18th, Big Hit made it official, announcing that they have acquired KOZ Entertainment. The company was founded by rapper Zico in November of 2018. As of now, two artists are on the KOZ roster, Zico himself and DVWN.

This is not the first time that Big Hit has acquired a company. They have put up a joint venture with CJ ENM and established BELIFT Lab, which acquired Source Music. BELIFT Lab is also responsible for the recently concluded reality show, I-LAND, where Zico served as a mentor. The show ended with the forming of the boy group Enhyphen, which is set to debut at the end of this month.

Big Hit also acquired PLEDIS Entertainment this year, home to artists like Nana of Afterschool, NU'EST, and Seventeen. By acquiring KOZ Entertainment, they hope to promote its artists not just in Korea but also all over the world.

Meanwhile, Zico has enlisted into the military in July of this year. He will be serving as a public service worker instead of being an active soldier. This is because aside from having asthma, he has also had operations on his heart in the past.
