Taylor Swift Is Now Free to Rerecord Her Old Albums

It has been quite a battle but pop star Taylor Swift is finally able to reclaim her old songs. She has been locked in a public feud with infamous manager Scooter Braun, who handles other stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. 

It all started when Braun bought Big Machine Records, her former label, in 2019. This gave Braun control over the master recordings of her first six album, including her "Reputation" album, release din 2017.  She claimed that Braun and  Scott Borcheta, CEO of her former label, had banned her from making new records of her old songs, until November 2020. 

So right on November 1, Swifties all over the world trended the hashtag #TaylorIsFree to celebrate the fact that she can now have ownership over her old albums. Although Taylor has not made an official announcement yet that she will be doing so. 
Her most recent release was a surprise album released on July 24, 2020. "Folklore" has been lauded by many critics for its introspective songwriting. It came almost a year after she released "Lover". It went on to become number one in charts all over the world and even earned a Guinness World record for most streams for opening day by a female artist.
