Red Velvet Stage on 2020 Ontact Gangnam Festival Cut, SBS Explains
The "Ontact 2020 Gangnam Festival" finally aired on SBS last November 2. Many artists, including ASTRO, Kang Daniel, and Oh My Girl performed during the concert but the most noticeable absence was that of Red Velvet, who were the last performers for the night.
The concert was held last October 18, and the girl group performed three songs, namely "Umpah Umpah", "Bad Boy", and "Psycho". But in the SBS broadcast, their performances were cut off and not included in the final broadcast.
SBS issued a statement the next day to explain the absence of the group's whole stage. They claimed that there was not enough time given for the broadcast of the concert and that they had to shorten the length of the concert when they were doing the editing.
Despite this explanation, many netizens are not buying it. They believe the reason why this was done was because of the controversy that Red Velvet member Irene was involved in. Two weeks ago, news broke out that Irene had treated an editor badly during a photoshoot. The group canceled their online fan meeting shortly after.
Netizens are commenting that they feel bad for the rest of the members as they have not done anything wrong but now they are also suffering the consequences.
