BIGBANG member G-Dragon may be busy serving the military but he never been out of touch about the hottest groups in the K-pop world today. The multi-awarded Korean singer/rapper has revealed to his friend, former Weekly Idol host Jung Hyung Don, who are the most popular K-pop girl groups today among his fellow Korean soldiers.

G-Dragon has dropped the list of the most popular female Korean pop groups among the Korean soldiers and topping the list is TWICE. During the filming for the upcoming episode of Idol Room, South Korean comedian and television host Jung Hyung Don said he recently had a chat with G-Dragon and one of the topics that they have talked about is K-pop girl groups.

He said the BIGBANG member told him that the soldiers are grouped into three different kinds of teams right now and they are called "The 3 Divisions Of Girl Groups." The three divisions represent the top girl groups that are most popular among the enlisted soldiers and they are TWICE, Red Velvet, and BLACKPINK.

"I hear the soldiers are split into three different kinds of group right now, called 'The 3 Divisions Of Girl Groups'. [According to G-Dragon], the main [groups] are TWICE, Red Velvet, and BLACKPINK. TWICE's popularity among the soldiers is incredible," Jung said (via Koreaboo).

G-Dragon began his two-year mandatory military service in March 2018. He finished his basic training at South Korea's 3rd Infantry "Skeleton" Division in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province. The singer/music producer is now assigned as a regular soldier. G-Dragon is set to be discharged on October 26, 2019.

Meanwhile, TWICE, Red Velvet, and BLACKPINK are all in the headlines recently. TWICE released their latest comeback album Yes Or Yes on Monday. The music video for the title track of the same name has reached 20 million views on YouTube in 10 hours and 27 minutes.

This makes the nine-member group the fastest K-pop girl band to achieve such a milestone. The MV of BLACKPINK's "DDU-DU DDU-DU" previously held the record of 20 million views in 13 hours and 43 minutes. Overall, BTS holds the record when the MV for "IDOL" reached 20 million in just 6 hours and 33 minutes.

As for Red Velvet, the group recently announced five tour dates for their RedMare world tour in the United States. The quintet will kick off RedMare in America at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on February 8. They will also perform for their fans in Dallas, Miami, and Chicago before wrapping the U.S. leg in Newark, New Jersey on February 17.

BLACKPINK, on the other hand, grabbed the headlines last week when they scored multiple entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The four-member girl group and Dua Lipa's collaboration, titled "Kiss and Make Up," debut at No. 93 on Hot 100. This makes G-Dragon's labelmate the first Korean girl group to have multiple entries in the chart.
