BTS's UN Speech Being Used As Educational Material In Some Asian Countries; K-Pop Won Award At 2018 MTV EMA

The inspiring speech of BTS at the United Nations recently made its way to the classroom in some countries in Asia. The speech, which was delivered by BTS leader RM in behalf of the band, has been used in classroom tests as well as student assignment by some schools in the region.

BTS stepped into the UN general headquarters in New York last month to deliver a powerful speech for the launch of UNICEF initiative "Generation Unlimited." In his talk, RM urged today's youth not to be afraid to voice their opinion regardless of their race and gender identity.

Netizens have been sharing online some photos of the classroom educational and examination materials which contain the K-pop group's UN speech.  In a high school's midterm English exam in one of the schools in Korea, the students were tasked to read RM's speech and answer the questions on their reading comprehension and composition test.

In another high school, the principal wrote an excerpt from the speech on an announcement board, saying students must watch the speech before their tests the next day. A Korean student also shared a Korean translation of the BTS speech which was given to them as an assignment in a class.  

Meanwhile, some high schools in Singapore and Vietnam also adopted the speech on their tests given to students. The test materials also include a group photo of BTS.

BTS's speech at the UN gives importance to the idea of "love yourself" which is the title of the band's latest album series and world concert tour. The "Fake Love" hitmakers also launched a "Love Myself" campaign last year along with UNICEF to promote loving oneself and the others.

The group is also supporting UNICEF's #EndViolence campaign. BTS celebrated the first anniversary of the campaign and thank their fans for helping spread awareness of the campaign. UNICEF Korea also recently announced that as of November 2, they and BTS have raised over 1.6 billion won (approximately $1.4 million) for their campaign to end violence to children.

Meanwhile, BTS won another award for having the biggest fandom today. The 2018 MTV European Music Awards handed down the Biggest Fans Award to the K-pop group. BTS won the award against other international artists such as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, and Shawn Mendes, who himself is a self-proclaimed BTS fan.

Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook failed to attend the 2018 MTV EMA which was held in Bilbao, Spain. BTS Army, however, will definitely see the "IDOL" singers in this week's 2018 MBC Plus X GENIE Music Awards. The septet has been confirmed to perform a special collaboration with American singer Charlie Puth. The 2018 MGA will be held at the Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea on November 6.
