BTS Announces New Asia Tour Dates; Guinness World Records Subtly Sends "Cup Of Tea" Invite To K-Pop Idols
BTS's Love Yourself concert tour has officially extended. Bit Hit Entertainment has dropped new concert dates for Asia while the Bangtan Boys is in the Europe leg of their world tour.
The agency has revealed eight more tour stops in Asia on Wednesday. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook will be performing for their fans in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand. The boys will have a two-night show in Taoyuan, Taiwan, one day in Singapore, four days in Hong Kong, and one day in Bangkok, Thailand. Fans from all over the world are expected to flock in these cities just like in the recent concerts of the group in Seoul, in the U.S., Canada, and in London.
BTS will be at the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium in Taiwan on December 8 and 9. The Korean boy group will kick off 2019 with a performance at the Singapore National Stadium on January 19 and will then head back to Japan for their earlier scheduled two-night concert in Fukuoka, Japan on February 16-17.
The septet will then have a month break before hitting the road once again. Next stop in Hong Kong for a four-night concert on March 20-24 at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena. So far, BTS last stop is set at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on April 6. Big Hit may still add more tour dates as implied in the agency's official website.
The new tour date announcement came after BTS won the Favorite Social Artist Award at the American Music Awards 2018 and the successful concerts in North America and at The O2 Arena in London. The "IDOL" singer will return to The O2 on Wednesday night before heading to Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris.
Meanwhile, Guinness World Records London headquarter has sent a subtly invite for the BTS members to spend an afternoon tea at their office. The special shout-out to the popular boy band came along a photo of BTS's certificates from GWR against The O2 Arena at the background. It seems like the photo was taken from the GWR's office in London overlooking the arena. Both GWR London office and the BTS concert venue are near the River Thames in London.
"Good luck with the show tonight @BTS_twt. We might even be able to hear from our London office just across the river from the @TheO2. Why not pop in for a cup of tea and pick up your certificates?! #BTSLondon," Guinness World Record captioned the photo.
Guinness is referring to the certificates that the "DNA" hitmakers have gathered since last year. Based on the photo shared by the organization, BTS already holds five records.
In September 2017, BTS broke the world record for most Twitter engagements for a music group. At the time of the announcement, BTS had amassed an average of 252,200 retweets per tweet on Twitter.
Moreover, the band has been named as the first K-pop act to peak at No.1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with Love Yourself: Tear album in June 2018. The septet is also the first K-pop artist to reach the No.1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100.
Earlier this year, the music video for "Fake Love" garnered 200 million views in the first 44 days it was uploaded. This makes it the fastest MV of a K-pop group to achieve the record. Most recently, BTS was awarded the GWR's record of the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours for the "IDOL" MV with 45 million views when it was released on August 24.
BTS's earlier feats were already featured in The Guinness World Records 2018 edition. The new records will be at the 2019 edition. BTS has indeed a lot of Guinness World Records to pick up in London.
