‘General Hospital’ News: KFC Twitter Account Turns Snarky With GH-Related Posts; Hints Colonel Sanders Appearance
Marketing has evolved so much these days that businesses have resorted to social media to inform people what they should spend their money on. Whether this is the case for KFC or not, we've all seen this tactic before.
Wendy's started delivering serious burns in 2016, gaining a lot of attention on the platform. But recently, KFC had many people confused, after the chain's official account started tweeting exclusively about the soap opera General Hospital.
KFC References GH
KFC's GH tweets started last Monday when its account posted something about "CC" along with the hashtags #GeneralHospitaL, #FloatingRib, and #GH55. Followers of the account who were also fans of the long-running soap quickly understood what the tweet meant and that it was referencing the episode that aired that day.
You'd think it was one of those "mistweets," but the official account continued its General Hospital commentary Tuesday, voicing its opinion of how Jason should find a new job. Wednesday came and KFC wished the "very worst" for Nelle and Michael, and on Thursday, it pleaded for Sam to punch Jason on the lips with his lips.
Followers of the KFC account and GH fans were all perplexed, needless to say. After all, it's the first time KFC tweeted something about GH in all its 55 years on ABC. It's unclear if it's all a marketing stunt as of now, as neither KFC nor GH said something about it. KFC's latest product launch was the introduction of the pickle fried chicken last week, but it's hard to see how this could be connected to the long-running soap.
A Colonel Sanders Cameo?
While we can't see the point of it all, some people are gossiping about a Colonel Sanders Cameo on General Hospital. "Not only will KFC continue tweeting about GH, but the Colonel himself will be appearing on the soap in a storyline promoting KFC's Pickle Fried Chicken with characters Maxie Jones West (Kirsten Storms) and Lulu Spencer Falconeri (Emme Rylan)," a source said. What's left for fans as of now is to look for screen legend George Hamilton to appear on GH as Col. Sanders. What do you think?
