'Power' Season 5 Update: 50 Cent Reveals Show's Release Date, Season 6 Renewal
After the threat of being canceled because of the TV provider issues, Power Season 5 will soon return to the small screens. In a post on Instagram, 50 Cent, who plays the role of Kanan, revealed the official release date of the show's fifth and season, and its renewal.
However, the said post has been deleted, but Hot New Hip-Hop managed to save the details. Power Season 5 is said to be released on July 1.
Also, as there are swirling rumors that it will be the series' final installment, 50 Cent also revealed that it will is renewed for Season 6. In fact, the 42-year-old rapper will be handling the directorial duties of the next season's premiere episode.
To recall, earlier reports said that Power Season 5 will be canceled after its TV provided, Optimum, was said to cut its costing. This was about to affect its subsidiary network, Starz, and the network's line-up schedule. Fortunately, all is well between the two companies.
As a matter of fact, 50 Cent also earlier revealed that Power Season 5 already started filming, in spite of the contractual problem. And to ease the fans worrying, the show's stars have been teasing what would happen in the upcoming new season in a series of posts on their own social media pages.
It started when the crime drama-thriller series' Instagram account shared a picture of Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) holding the show's clapperboard. This just meant that they already began their production.
"The hustle never stops. The 'Power' TV screw is back at it for Season 5," the caption reads. Other stars of the show also revealed little teasers of what fans are about to see. Tommy (Joseph Sikora) hinted that things might go on a different way in the upcoming new season.
50 Cent also revealed that there is a big possibility that he might return to his old ways in the new season. Also, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) might be suggesting that Dre (Rotimi) might get killed, but Ghost and Tommy may get to him first.
So fans just have to wait until July 1 to see Power Season 5 return on Starz.
