Netflix has dropped the first teaser for the upcoming final season of House of Cards. It can be noticed that Kevin Spacey is no longer in the trailer and it is Robin Wright's character who is now in charge of the White House.

Netflix aired the teaser during the Oscars 2018 and it features Claire Underwood (Wright) in command at the White House's Oval Office. The promo shows the busy hallway outside the office before Claire turns around in the President's chair and says, "We're just getting started."

Spacey will not be reprising his character as disgraced former president Frank Underwood after the streaming network giant severed all ties with the actor. Spacey was fired in the series after he was accused by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp of sexually assaulting him when he was just 14 years old. Spacey said he did not remember the incident in question, but he did publicly apologize for what he claimed may have been "deeply inappropriate drunken behavior."

The filming of House of Cards was immediately suspended following the sexual abuse allegation. Soon after, several members of HoC crew also speak up and revealed they were also sexually harassed by the actor.

What Happened to Frank Underwood in House of Cards Season 6?

The political drama has resumed production in January. Netflix decided to rewrite some of the episodes to center on Claire instead of Frank. The streaming network chief content officer Ted Sarandos earlier said the last run of episodes will offer a "good, creative conclusion."

However, the streaming network remains mum on how Frank's absence will be explained in Season 6. It could be an easy way for HoC writers since Frank already resigned as president at the end of Season 5. Vice-President Claire Underwood has assumed the top post in the country.

At first, it looks like Claire is ready to pardon Frank. However, towards the end of the finale episode, she ignored her husband's desperate calls for a presidential pardon. This suggests that she might be sending his husband to jail after all.

Is Claire Going To Be a Great President?

Fans of House of Cards have known Claire Underwood as a smart and ambitious lady but she also has some dark secrets. Like her husband, she already killed a person. In Season 2, Frank murdered political reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) whom he had an affair with. In the previous season, Claire poisoned her lover and speechwriter Thomas Yates (Paul Sparks).

Claire is not just a wife to Francis J. Underwood. Before she became the First Lady of the United States and VP, she worked as a lobbyist and also runs an environmental nonprofit organization. Claire also once held the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Many see her as the conniving wife of Frank and in many instances, she showed a deep commitment to their scheme while Frank wavers.

Meanwhile, Netflix has earlier announced that Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will be joining the show. The eight-episode House of Cards Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix this fall.
