The couple portrayed Captain Yoo Shi Jin (Joong Ki) and Dr. Kang Mo Yeon (Hye Kyo) in the popular and successful television series. However, most fans do not know that the pair used to share the same passion: skating.
AllKPop shared that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have both tried out ice skating during their younger days. The publication revealed that the Descendants of the Sun actor was a short track speed skater while his wife used to be a figure skater. The 32-year-old actor was even sent to numerous competitions.
Song Joong Ki also had a chance to compete against South Korean footballer Lee Ho Seok in a national game. However, the husband of Song Hye Kyo was forced to give up his dreams to get a gold medal at the Winter Olympics after he fractured his ankle in junior high school. The Descendants of the Sun actor spent, more or less, 10 years in the sport.
Song Hye Kyo, on the other hand, began her career in ice skating in junior high school. Just like Song Joong Ki, the Descendants of the Sun actress has also tried joining competitions.
