The HMD Global has started rolling out the update to bring the Nokia 8 up to Android 8.0 Oreo. Nokia has started pushing out the Oreo update for the factory unlocked variant of the Nokia 8 in Asia, Europe, and North America, as per the HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas.

Nokia 8 smartphones with model numbers TA-1004 and TA-1012 are part of the first wave, confirmed by HMD Global exec Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. The software update will bring the build-up to version V4.35J. The update is sized at 1.5GB download which you need to pull down via Wi-Fi.

In the changelog, after the Android 8.0 Oreo update, the list of tweaks in Nokia 8 includes the addition of picture-in-picture features, notification dots, and the Google November security patch, as well as optimizations to the boot-up speed for the phone. There are also tweaks to the autofill password features, and security updates for Google Play Protect, as reported by

The Android 8.0 Oreo update should be rolling out to other regions also. Sarvikas claims that there is a plan is for every Nokia 8 to be updated within two days, even though this can only be guaranteed for unlocked handsets. He claims that although builds for carrier handsets are rolling out too if any carriers want to review the update it might delay it for some users by a week.

Nokia 8 is HMD Global-owned Nokia's most impressive flagship smartphone to date, which was announced back in September. The device has a 5.3-inch IPS LCD display, a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4/6GB of RAM and a 3,090mAh battery, as reported by Gadget360.

All other Nokia Android smartphones from HMD Global will also get their Android 8.0 Oreo updates in the near future, namely, the Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6. In fact, they must all also get their Android 8.0 Oreo update, as promised by HMD Global last month.
