Samsung's upcoming second-generation Galaxy J5 Prime has been certified by the FCC earlier this month. The South Korean company announced the original Galaxy J5 Prime in September of last year, and rumors surrounding a sequel have been floating around for some time now. The smartphone -- J5 Prime 2018 has now cleared the US-based regulatory body FCC, hitting at the imminent launch.

The FCC listing reveals that the J5 Prime 2018 edition will be a dual-SIM smartphone and will come with a model number of SM-G571F/DS. Even though there are no final words by Samsung on the J5 Prime 2018 edition, going by the reports, it looks like the smartphone may be released in the early days of 2018, as reported by Android Headlines.

The FCC listing also reveals that the J5 Prime 2018 will have a non-removable battery as well, as reported by GSM Arena. Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) was earlier spotted on GFX Bench revealing it will be powered by Samsung's Exynos 7570 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, the benchmark listing also reveals the camera details, which claims that Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) will come with a 12-megapixel camera on the back, while on the front it will sport an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The device is said t come with Android 7.1 Nougat right out of the box.

Taking into account the fact that the South Korean tech giant is yet to release the Galaxy J5 (2018), it's likely that this device will have the current calendar year in its name. Because of this, an early December launch appears probable, therefore marking the company's final mobile release of the year, just in time for the holiday shopping season. In terms of pricing, a similar price tag to the original Galaxy J5 Prime (2016) is expected, so expect the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) to set you back around $200.
