'Attack on Titan' Season 3 Premiere News and Key Visual Released
News of the "Attack on Titan" season 3 premiere date has surfaced. The third season of the anime will begin airing sometime in July 2018. This suggests that previous rumors of season 3 premiering next April were inaccurate.
Anime News Network reports that the season 3 announcement was made at the "'Shingeki no Kyojin' Reading & Live Event Orchestra 'Attack Oto Taikan 2'" event in Tokyo on October 29. WIT Studio said that a new "Attack on Titan" anime film will first be released on January 13, 2018. "Attack on Titan" season 3 is set to follow in July.
The upcoming film is subtitled "Kakusei no Hōkō," which means "The Roar of Awakening." It will be a compilation movie made up of scenes from "Attack on Titan" season 2. Manga creator Hajime Isayama is reportedly doing an illustration that will be used for a "bonus item" for the film's viewers. A trailer for the new "Attack on Titan" anime film is available, watch it here:
WIT Studio also released a key visual for "Attack on Titan" season 3, which highlights Kenny. The striking image shows a captured Eren who is tied up and kneeling on a tall pillar.
Tokyo Otaku Mode notes that the "Shingeki no Kyojin" anime Twitter feed has confirmed that the "Attack on Titan" season 3 premiere date will be sometime in July 2018. An official website promoting the third season has been opened, although it is bare bones at the moment. It features the season 3 key visual and some promotional copy in Japanese.
The website reveals that a good number of the "Attack on Titan" season 2 cast and crew will be back working on the third season. One person who is not currently listed as returning is the season 2 chief animation director Ayumi Yamada.
