Rain and Kim Tae Hee Welcome Their First Child: It's a Girl
Rain and Kim Tae Hee have announced the birth of their first child, a girl. The K-pop superstar shared the news on his personal Instagram account yesterday.
Soompi reports that Rain's Instagram post reads, "Thank you... She is a beautiful princess ~ We will raise her well to be a child that helps the world. #축복"The closing hashtag is the Korean term for "blessing."
As GMA News notes, Rain got married to actress Kim Tae Hee ("IRIS," "Yongpal") on January 19, 2017. The celebrity couple tied the knot at a small, private ceremony in the Gahoe-dong Cathedral of Seoul. They had been dating for five years before getting married.
In May, Kim Tae Hee's agency Ruach Entertainment announced that the actress was 15 weeks pregnant. Ruach said that she would be focusing on the baby's prenatal care and her own preparations for being a mother. At the time, Rain was celebrating the 15th anniversary of his debut with a Japan fanmeeting tour.
On September 4, a report surfaced online saying that Rain and Kim Tae Hee were expecting a baby girl, who would be born in late October or early November. Rain's agency posted a response on Naver saying that the expected due date was correct, but the couple was not disclosing the baby's gender and the agency did not know the child's gender.
Later in September, Rain's agency announced that the singer was working on his comeback album, which he planned to release in early December. The upcoming release would be his first album in three years since "Rain Effect" came out in June 2014.
The agency also confirmed that Rain would be joining KBS2's "The Unit" survival show as an MC and mentor to idol trainees. On an interview with Naver, Rain said that he turned down the show's offers a few times because he did not want to judge others. But he loved its concept of "idol rebooting," which got him to change his mind. Recently, Rain has received praise from "The Unit" staff members saying that he has been an encouraging and comforting presence on the show.
