Twitter Fans Call Out Jaehyun For Mouthing The N-Word On 'NCT Night Night' Livestream
NCT 127 member Jaehyun is currently under fire on Twitter for his recent actions during a radio show. The K-Pop singer is co-hosting 'NCT Night Night' with fellow band member Johnny on Korean radio station SBS Power FM.
Buzzfeed said during the show's Monday episode, the two wrapped up the show by playing the song "Caroline" by American rapper Aminé. The Monday episode was captured on a livestream video, so fans of the K-Pop band could see the two even after wrapping up the show. Jaehyun was seen singing along to "Caroline" until he mouthed a line from the song which includes the controversial n-word. Although both Jaehyun's and Johnny's mics were off, it was unclear whether the former really did say the n-word out loud.
Fans who watched the show expressed their disappointment in Jaehyun on Twitter. Several noted the singer, who is an English speaker and had lived for four years in the US, and expected him to be sensitive about things like this. Others were also blaming Johnny for not minding Jaehyun's actions, although the livestream showed he was oblivious to the latter mouthing the offensive word.
People had also begun tagging NCT and SM Entertainment, the group's company and demanding an apology. Jaehyun's camp nor SM Entertainment has responded to the allegations.
'NCT Night Night' is not Jaehyun's first foray into the radio show scene. He also shared DJ duties with Johnny to replace Park So Hyun on 'Love Game.' At that time, Park had to step down from the show as he was still recovering from an injury.
Meanwhile, NCT 127 is expected to perform in Manila on October 28 for 'K-Pop Republic 2' music festival. The group will be sharing the stage with GFriend, Cosmic Girls, and N.Flying.
