TWICE's Japanese single "One More Time" has gone to number one on the Oricon Daily Chart with a record-breaking first-day sales figure. The single was released on October 18 in Japan.

Yonhap News reports that "One More Time" sold 94,957 copies on the first day of its release. It handily beat the Japanese boy band MAG!C PRINCE, which recorded sales of 51,581 copies on the Oricon Daily Chart. Oricon is a prestigious, long-running record sales chart tracker of the Japanese music industry.

Selling close to 9.5K copies places TWICE's "One More Time" among the year's top 5 singles in Japan, notes a user on Reddit. In only the first day of release, "One More Time" has become the third best-selling Japanese single of 2017, and the best-selling Japanese single by a girl group. In second place is SHINee's "Winter Wonderland" with 96,412 copies sold. In first place is BTS's "血, 汗, 涙" with 264,333 copies sold.

But TWICE is not only the best-selling girl group in Japan this year. AllKpop reports that TWICE has achieved the highest first-day sales figure ever recorded by a girl group in Japan. In only one day, TWICE has beaten the previous high marks achieved by Girls Generation (74,000 copies sold) and KARA (73,076 copies sold).

SBS PopAsia recalls that TWICE's first Japanese release, the repack album "#TWICE," garnered 136,157 in sales on the week of its debut. Those numbers meant that TWICE had the best first-week sales by a Korean artist in Japan over the last two years. And this previous article notes that "#TWICE" sold over 260,000 copies in two months of its release, making it the highest-selling album by a K-pop girl group in Japan. In comparison, Girls Generation's biggest-selling Japanese album, "Girls & Peace," sold 204,000 copies in 2012.

TWICE is currently gearing up for a comeback in Korea with the album "TWICEtagram." The group has released teaser images and videos for the upcoming single "Likey."
