BTS Breaks YouTube, Gaon Chart Records with 100 Million Views and 1.2 Million Album Sales
BTS is having an amazing week, as its blockbuster single "DNA" has now hit over 100 million YouTube views in only 24 days. The boy band has also sold over 1.2 million physical copies of their new album "Love Yourself: Her," which is a new album sales record.
It's a happy day for the group as well as a happy birthday for Jimin today. Here is the BTS' official tweet greeting him:
Soompi reports that the Gaon Music Chart has revealed the monthly album sales chart for September 2017 and it has BTS's "Love Yourself: Her" with the No. 1 ranking. The numbers indicate that since the album came out on September 18, 1,203,533 physical copies of the album were sold in the last month alone.
With this achievement, BTS has broken yet another record. "Love Yourself: Her" is now the highest-selling single album (not a repack) in the history of the Gaon Music Chart, which started tracking sales numbers in 2010.
The Korean boy band g.o.d did achieve a sales figure of 1,441,209 for the album "Chapter 4" in 2001, notes AllKpop. BTS is still the first K-pop group in 16 years to sell more than 1.2 million copies of a single album, and "Love Yourself: Her" might eventually surpass the "Chapter 4" sales numbers.
BTS is also breaking records on YouTube. "DNA" is now the fastest K-pop music video to reach 100 million views on the popular streaming site. The MV reached the 100-M milestone in 24 days and one hour says Soompi.
That is almost half the time of the previous record-holder, BLACKPINK's "As If It's Your Last" MV, which got to 100 million views in 46 days. Earlier this year, BTS's "Not Today" MV achieved 100 million YouTube views in 109 days. The boy band now has a total of eight MVs with over 100 million views on YouTube.
In more good news, BTS has gotten over 9 million followers on its @방탄소년단 Twitter account. Don't confuse it with their agency's @BTS_official account, which has over 6 million followers.
