Junhyeok Joins 'The Unit' After 'Day 6'
Junhyeok the keyboardist and vocalist of the South Korean rock band "Day 6" will now be seen in "The Unit". The show will give a platform to already debuted artists to demonstrate their talent.
According to Soompi, the show will create male and female unit groups, with 10 members each. All those artists who were not able to showcase their talent will get a fair chance to demonstrate it through this show.
Junhyeok appeared in the open audition held on September 30, reported Allkpop. Talking about the show, Park Ji Young (producing director) said, "We will 'create the best team' in this show. I heard the word 'last' a lot when I interviewed the participants."
She further added, "It gives me a sense of responsibility to help the passionate participant achieve their dream of becoming a successful idol." Since the day auditions were opened, more than 500 idols sent their applications for the participation. Members of other bands like Boys Republic, BIGSTAR, Brave Girl, and 1NB will also be taking part in this show. The first episode of "The Unit" will be airing on October 28 with a total of 14 episodes.
Junhyeok made an entry in the K-Pop industry in 2015 with DAY6. But he soon left the group and joined JYP Entertainment in February 2016. Speculations were being made that he would join a new band Be-Blossom, but he has reportedly stopped activities with the group.
The band Day 6 currently has five members-Jae, Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. "The Day" was the first EP by the band which was released on September 7, 2015.
As soon as the news broke the internet, fans from all over the world starting pouring their love for the K-Pop artist. Fans wished him luck for this new show while some requested to show their support on artist's insta page.
