'Riverdale' Season 2 Episode 1 Air Date, Synopsis, Spoilers: More Trouble Ahead For Archie, Veronica, Betty, Jughead
There is only a few more weeks before Archie (K.J. Apa), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Betty (Lili Reunhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) return to television for "Riverdale" Season 2. Ahead of the hit teen series' premiere, The CW has released the synopsis for the episode "A Kiss Before Dying."
The second installment of the television series will pick up immediately after the cliffhanger events of the first season. According to the synopsis for "Riverdale" Season 2 Episode 1, Archie, having witnessed the shooting at Pop's Diner, still feels a bit shaken.
"As Fred's (Luke Perry) life hangs in the balance following the shooting at Pop's Diner, Archie struggles with the emotional aftermath of what he witnessed," synopsis read (via Comicbook.com). "Meanwhile, as Veronica steps out of her comfort zone to support Archie, she learns that her father Hiram (Mark Consuelos) has arrived to Riverdale earlier than expected."
The premiere episode will also see Pop Tate (Alvin Sanders) recount what he has witnessed at Pop's Diner to Jughead and Betty. The two, in turn, questions the shooter's true motive. Betty also runs into Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) who tells her about the fire at Thornhill.
As for the other cliffhanger, the relationship between Betty and Jughead (#Bughead to fans), viewers can be assured that Season 2 will not pick up with the two broken up. While they still will be together despite Jughead's move, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa warned that the road is not paved with roses.
In a previous interview with TV Line, he shared that Bughead will face serious relationship hurdles ahead in "Riverdale" Season 2. In fact, he stated that "[i]t's almost like every force in the universe" is trying to pry them apart!
The same can be said about Archie and Veronica who, aside from personal problems, will have to face a fresh set of relationship issues in the upcoming season. One event that will stir trouble for Varchie is the arrival of Nick St. Clair (Graham Phillips).
"Riverdale" Season 2 Episode 1, "A Kiss Before Dying," will air on Oct. 11, Tuesday, at 8/7c on The CW. Watch a new teaser below.
