Lucifer Season 3

"Lucifer" Season 3 will feature four unaired episodes from Season 2 and, according to co-showrunner Joe Henderson, will be opening new story lines for the characters. In fact, one of the episodes will see Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) become a super spy a la James Bond.

In March, Season 2 was only supposed to have 18 episodes, but Fox unexpectedly ordered four more episodes. The remaining episodes, which were said to be stand-alone, were added to the paranormal series' fall run.

However, how exactly will they fit into Season 3? Henderson says that these four remaining episodes from Season 2 will actually beneficial moving forward.

"We had a really good feeling that these four standalone episodes would be in Season 3, so we started building them with that in mind," he told TV Line. "What these episodes do is begin new story for our characters."

He recounted that one episode that centers on Maze who becomes like James Bond, "if he was a female demon assassin." After the episode airs, expect her to have her own story arcs.

There is also an episode where the titular character, Lucifer (Tom Ellis), gets knocked out and wakes up in the middle of the desert with his wings restored. Another leftover episode will see him and Ella (Aimee Garcia) in Las Vegas.

The aforementioned standalone episodes will be separated and scattered throughout "Lucifer" Season 3. The first few episodes of the supernatural series will be new and will pick-up exactly where Season 2 left off.

Tom Welling of "Smallville" will also join the series in the upcoming season. He will play the role of Marcus Pierce, a police lieutenant who is described as the exact opposite of Lucifer.

"Lucifer" Season 3 will premiere on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. on Fox. In the mean time, watch its newest trailer below.
