‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Character Updates Revealed; New Members Introduced!

In the upcoming film "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," the character "Drax" is going to be more "badass," according to Dave Bautista, in an interview for Cinema Blend. Meanwhile, lead character Peter Quill will be searching for his long-lost father.

Bautista, an ex-pro wrestler, plays the muscular alien whose main purpose was to avenge the death of his family. In the interview, Bautista admitted that he has yet to read the screenplay for "Guardians 2." He was confident though, that his "Drax" will get an upgrade because he has already discussed the progression of the character with the writer and director.

After the first "Guardians" movie, the actors were not privy to the future of their characters. "As far as the storyline as a whole, I honestly don't know." Bautista said during the interview. He stressed that if he did know, he "obviously wouldn't tell." However, he told Cinema Blend that he hopes that the movie would continue its initial path, and that it could eventually tie in with the Avengers franchise.

The evolution of Drax as one of the protagonist of the franchise coincides with the positive feedback received by Bautista's character. He won over fans with his deadpan acting and amusing charm, according to Geek Tyrant. The "Guardians of The Galaxy 2" film will still benefit if extra focus is given to Drax's badassery, because it means "we're going to get even more scenes of him wreaking havoc."

Marvel exec Kevin Feige said that they would start shooting for "Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2," sometime around February and March next year, according to Yahoo Movies.

It was also announced that a new character would join the cast. Pom Klementieff has been tapped to take on role of Mantis, a martial arts expert related to the Kree race, according to a Geek Tyrant report. In the comic book, Mantis is the daughter of antihero Libra, and is known to possess psychic abilities.
