Riverdale Season 2

Jughead Jones will be in the middle of the conflict between the North Side and the South Side when "Riverdale" returns for Season 2. According to Cole Sprouse, the character will have to decide which side he will pick, and this will affect his relationship with the people around him moving forward.

To recall, things went south - literally - for Jughead in the finale of "Riverdale" Season 1. After losing FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich), Betty Cooper's (Lili Reinhart) new boyfriend had to move to the South Side and, in the finale, seemingly joined the Southside Serpent.

Jughead's former life and the friends he left behind at the North Side will clash with his new home on the South Side. Pretty soon, Jughead might need to pick a side.

"Season 2 is very much a narrative between the North Side and the South Side of 'Riverdale,' and the brewing tension in feeling agency-less," the actor tells Comicbook.com. "It's going to force all the characters to pick one side and Jughead stands in a very very compromising position with one foot on the North and one foot on the South."

The actor continues that figuring out what to do to reconcile his old and his new life will affect his relationship with every character on the show. So fans want to ask: what will happen to Bughead (Betty + Jughead)?

The freshman season of "Riverdale" saw Jughead finally confess his feelings for Betty. However, before they even took their relationship to the next level, they were interrupted by the Southside Serpents who offered him a jacket which he happily accepted.

Reinhart, in an interview with Seventeen Magazine, assures that Jughead's move to the South Side does not spell the end of his romance with Betty. The two, the actor shares, will still have romantic moments between them.

However, because of the ongoing conflict between the two sides of "Riverdale," the love story between Betty and Jughead will play out like "Romeo and Juliet." Reinhart warns that, like every other TV drama from The CW, there will be heartaches ahead. "Riverdale" Season 2 will premiere on Oct. 11 by 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
