Xiaomi is expected to reveal its latest smartphone, the Mi Mix 2, later this year. However, thanks to frequent leaks on the web, consumers now have an idea what the phone will offer. The device will aim to destroy its competition with what is called a 3D facial recognition.

Facial recognition, of course, is no longer new in the smartphone market. Plenty of mid and high-end devices already offer the feature to unlock home screen or authorize certain commands. Even Apple's iPhone 8 will reportedly have facial recognition.

The complete specifications sheet of the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 has not been made public yet. However, a user shared on the Chinese social networking site, Weibo, confirms that the device will have a facial recognition. A screenshot of the home screen has the same head outline that Samsung phones with facial recognition have, as reported by Gadgets 360

Moreover, the leak claims that Xiaomi's facial recognition will be a little different and far more complex than what is available on the market today. The Mi Mix 2 will allegedly have a 3D facial recognition system, the Weibo user states.

In other news, a new video that surfaced online reveals that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will have an even thinner bezel than its predecessor. The teaser posted by designer Philippe Starck on Facebook looks a lot like the next version of the smartphone. The post added the tag line, "even less," that hints at a bigger screen and smaller bezels.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will reportedly run Android 7.1.1. OS and the company's own MIUI 9 which will be launched next month. It will also offer a 6.4-inch QHD display, 19 MP main camera, 13 MP front camera, 4,500 mAh battery, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 6 GB of RAM, and up to 256 GB internal storage.
