Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne co-starred in 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' and 'Tulip Fever.'

"Law and Order: Criminal Intent" alum Vincent D'Onofrio is set to direct a Western film titled "The Kid." He will also star in the movie along with Dane DeHaan, who recently starred in Luc Besson's "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" opposite Cara Delevingne.

"The Kid" was written by Andrew Lanham, who wrote the screenplay of "The Shack" starring Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer and Tim McGraw. The story of "The Kid" revolves around a young boy who witnesses the encounter of the infamous gunfighter Billy the Kid with Sheriff Pat Garrett.

DeHaan will play Billy the Kid. Joining him and D'Onofrio in the cast of "The Kid" are Ethan Hawke and Jake Schur. Suretone Entertainment chairman Jordan Schur is producing along with Nick Thurlow and Sam Maydew, according to Deadline.

The confirmation about DeHaan joining the cast of "The Kid" was made right after the release of "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets." The latter premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on July 17.

During the world premiere of "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," Besson told the audience that he was 17 years old the first time he was at the TCL Chinese Theatre, where he watched a "Star Wars" film. He also mentioned Rihanna during the event.

"I want to salute the queen of the universe, Rihanna," Variety quoted Besson as saying during the event. Rihanna played a shapeshifter named Bubble in "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets."

Besson praised DeHaan and Delevingne's performances in "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," as well. DeHaan played the title role while Delevingne played Sergeant Laureline in the sci-fi action film, which was also written by Besson.

After "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," fans of DeHaan and Delevingne will see them again together on the big screen. The two will co-star in the historical drama film "Tulip Fever," which will hit theaters on Aug. 25.
