K Pop Music Update: TWICE Ranked Number One In YouTube Top 10 Most Viewed K-Pop MVs
The famous girl group, TWICE, listed as top one as YouTube has released a list of the top 10 most viewed K-pop music videos in the world. The list was only for the first half of 2017.
The top 10 list was assembled by judging at the views for K-pop music videos on YouTube. Hence, the list was released anytime in between November 24, 2016, to June 25, 2017, according to Allkpop.
While TWICE's "Knock Knock" ranked as number one, BTS came in second with "Not Today." The third place was BIGBANG's "FXXK IT," followed by BTS's "Spring Day", and EXO's Chanyeol and Punch placed fifth with "Stay With Me," a "Goblin" OST soundtrack.
Furthermore, TWICE's "Signal" placed sixth and followed by BIGBANG's "Last Dance". As for No.8, PSY's "New Face" came along while "I LUV IT" placed at No. 9, and finally GOT7 came in at No. 10 with their music video for "Never Ever."
The South Korean girl group, TWICE, was formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show "Sixteen". The group is composed of nine members, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
The group first debuted on October 20, 2015, with the extended play (EP) "The Story Begins", as Mwave reported. TWICE rose to success with their song "Cheer Up" as it charted number 1 on Gaon Digital Chart and became the best-performing in 2016. The group won Song of the Year in two major music awards shows as well.
The awards were the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. Another song of the group, "TT" from their third EP Twicecoaster: Lane 1, reached the top spot for four consecutive weeks.
TWICE's EP was the highest selling K-pop girl group album as it sold over 350,852 copies at the end of the year. Within 19 months after debut, TWICE has sold over 1.2 million units of their four EPs and their special album.
