The upcoming historical drama "The King Loves" will soon unveil Girls Generation's YoonA's fierce side as she showcases her fighting skills. Latest photo stills from the new MBC series revealed some of the action sequences that involved the K-pop idol.

"The King Loves," also known as "The King in Love," will mark Girl Generation's YoonA's first South Korean historical series. The K-pop star previously starred in several contemporary dramas that showed off her girly yet tough side such as "Love Rain," "Prime Minister and I," "The K2" and more. However, in the upcoming MBC series, the K-pop singer will be tapping her inner warrior given the number of action sequences in the said TV production.

Recently released photos from the set of "The King Loves," as obtained by Korean news outlet Xports News, showed Girls Generation's YoonA holding dangerous items such as a knife and a hammer-like sporting stick as she faced off several opponents. One of the images even featured the songstress grasping several wooden boards as she appears to be dangling on the edge of a broken hanging bridge.

It seems that Girls Generation's YoonA's character in "The King Loves" possesses a rebellious spirit and a strong personality. Her character's spunky side may even be one of the reasons that will make the said role a memorable one for the K-pop idol.

"The King Loves" tells the story of the crown prince Wang Won (Im Siwan) and his childhood friend turned bodyguard Wang Rin (Hong Jong Hyun) who will both fall in love with the same woman namely Eun San. Portrayed by Girls Generation's YoonA, the said character also tries to hide her real identity as the daughter of a rich man.

Meanwhile, the Kpop songstress described "The King Loves" as one of her memorable drama projects. She explained during the drama's earlier press conference that the said series became an important production for her since it helped mark her tenth-year anniversary in the South Korean entertainment industry, All Kpop quoted Girls Generation's YoonA as saying.

"The King Loves" will premiere on July 17, Monday, on MBC. Watch the teaser clip below:
