The "World of Warcraft: Legion" release date has been announced at an event held today, according to Gamespot.

"World of Warcraft" has been a successful game franchise for a while now. There have been several expansions for the game and all of these expansions have been a hit. Blizzard, the game developer, has fixed issues and bugs along the way for many years.

Earlier, the release date of the game was leaked online just a day before the BlizzCon event. The leaked date was seen on an image that was hosted on the Battle.net website. It reads "Expected game release on or before Sept. 21, 2016," according to sources.

Today at BlizzCon, the expansion of the game, "Legion" was officially announced by Blizzard. The game company said that the expansion will have a release window in summer 2016 despite the image that was captured a day ago, according to PC Gamer.

The "Legion" expansion will have a new playable class with new zones, according to Polygon. Blizzard is also changing the structure to how leveling plays out in the expansion. The leveling zones of the expansion will scale based on the player's level. The lead designer, Ion Hazzikostas, describes this feature as a true open world.

The game will have a price tag of $49.99 for the standard edition. The deluxe edition of the expansion will have an in-game mount, pet and digital content for "Diablo 3" and "StarCraft 2". The price tag for this edition will be $69.99, according to sources.

The "World of Warcraft: Legion" release date might be on summer 2016, but the beta version of the expansion will be starting this year, according to sources. A player can sign up to join the beta phase on the Battle.net website.
