Black Pink Follows 2NE1, Big Bang’s Footsteps, Rocks K-Pop World
Big Bang and 2NE1 are no longer the active K-Pop groups of YG Entertainment. The pressure is on for Black Pink as it has big shoes to fill.
Formed in 2009, 2NE1 disbanded earlier this year. The members of the K-Pop girl group were Park Bom, Sandara Park, Lee Chae Rin and Gong Min Ji, whose respective screen names are Bom, Dara, CL and Minzy.
Unlike 2NE1, Big Bang has not disbanded yet but the K-Pop boy band will have to go on hiatus after Choi Seung Hyun, who is professionally known as T.O.P, recently joined the military service. Kwon Ji Yong and Dong Young Bae, whose respective screen names are G-Dragon and Taeyang, will enlist before the year ends while Kang Dae Sung and Lee Seung Hyun, whose respective screen names are Daesung and Seungri, will follow in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
This leaves Black Pink as the K-Pop group representative of YG Entertainment. Its members Kim Ji Soo, Jennie Kim, Roseanne Park and Lalisa Manoban, whose respective screen names are Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa, were in Seoul on June 22, Thursday, to attend a press conference for the release of their latest single "As If It's Your Last," Korea Herald reported.
During the conference, Jennie talked about how they felt now as the only K-Pop girl group in YG Entertainment currently. The Black Pink members do no not really think about that and what is important for them is to represent the company and act accordingly.
YG Entertainment is known for its artists' music and performance. The Black Pink girls are aware of this and they are ready to rock the K-Pop world to make sure that they do not let their fans down, Jennie said.
On July 20, Black Pink will debut in Japan, particularly at the Budokan arena in Tokyo. Big Bang member G-Dragon will also be in Japan soon, particularly in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka, and in September, he will have a solo concert in Manila, Manila Bulletin reported.
As a solo artist, G-Dragon has released three studio albums. Big Bang, on the other hand, has released seven studio albums.
