Microsoft Surface Phone Release: Microsoft Officials Indicate That Smartphone Is Coming Soon
The Redmond tech giant Microsoft has long been rumored to be working on a new flagship smartphone, the Surface Phone scheduled to launch sometime this year. The rumors were further confirmed when the firm decided to do away with its Nexus line of smartphones as well. While leaks and speculations regarding the upcoming smartphone keep emerging from time to time, there isn't any key detail coming from the side of the officials.
That just changed as Microsoft's General Manager for Surface, Ryan Gavin reportedly offered fans key details regarding the upcoming Surface Phone. While in an interview with Business Insider wherein he was talking about the new Surface line-up including the Surface Pro, Surface laptop, and Surface Studio, he said that there is still something missing. This has been assumed to be his indication towards an upcoming Surface smartphone.
This isn't the first time that rumors regarding the long-awaited Surface Phone were suggested by officials. Earlier this month, Corporate VP of Surface Computing, Panos Panay was reported to be discussing details regarding the device with his team members.
The Surface Phone should have been here long back. Back in December, it was assumed that the Surface Phone was supposed to launch back in 2016. However, that clearly didn't take place.
According to a report published by Express, there are a lot of rumors that suggest that Intel is heavily involved with Microsoft for working on its upcoming smartphone. There are still many of those who believe that Microsoft plans on launching the device sometime in the coming weeks regardless of how many launches the company made in the recent past. When the smartphone is launched, the device will compete directly with other major flagship smartphones including iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8, Google Pixel 2 and Nokia 9 smartphones.
