Apple iPhone May Not Be Able To Support High-Speed Internet

Cupertino tech giant, Apple recently concluded its WWDC event wherein the firm reportedly launched slurry of new software updates. The company is still not done with its launches as far as 2017 is concerned as it is also expected to take the wraps off its upcoming iPhone 8 device, sometime in September. Now, a new report suggests that the company might get into trouble as a consequence of its legal battle with Qualcomm.

According to a report published by Tech Times, the next set of iterative iPhones along with the heavily-speculated iPhone 8 might not be compatible with gigabit cellular connections. In other words, none of the iOS devices might be capable of supporting high-speed Internet. The report noted how the Cupertino tech-giant essentially relies on Intel and Qualcomm for its mobile modem services. However, out of the two, only Qualcomm is able to deliver gigabit Internet speeds, thanks to its X16 LTE modem. As fans may already be aware, Apple has ended up in a rather awkward tiff with Qualcomm, putting this service in jeopardy as well.

According to another report published by Bloomberg, the mobile carrier market is going to witness a lot of changes in the upcoming months. As 5G technology is being prepared, for now, it appears like all the mobile carriers are going to be seen attempting to boast this year's smartphones through the latest and the most advanced network upgrades. Intel, meanwhile, is trying to make its own modem that can survive the tough competition from Qualcomm as well. But that will certainly take some time and Apple might not have that much time.

If this does turn out to be a reality, then iPhones will no longer be supported by Qualcomm modems and the two will ultimately fall apart with much damage being caused to the former.
