Chinese BTS fans have followed in the footsteps of Chinese EXO-Ls who purchased 11 Times Square billboards to celebrate the anniversary of their beloved EXO. BTS ARMY from China recently spent millions to showcase their love for their idols in the heart of New York.

According to a report by Digital Music Times, Chinese ARMY, BTS' official fandom splurged millions of dollars for video animated displays on giant billboards in Times Square to celebrate the K-pop group's fourth anniversary. A video has been uploaded to youtube showing the amazing show of support for BTS and it has so far been viewed 150,000 times.

The report further said that the campaign to raise funds for the massive billboard campaign was started way back in April after EXO-Ls from China spearheaded a campaign to celebrate EXO's landmark 5th-anniversary featuring images, videos and congratulatory messages in a different language to introduce the world to EXO. At the time, the EXO campaign was considered the most expensive gift a fandom has ever given their idols and the Chinese ARMY was challenged to top this feat.

The massive BTS billboard campaign certainly has leveled up the ante for K-pop fandoms worldwide. The campaign, while no exact figure has been released about the cost could run up to millions of dollars depending on how long the billboards ran the ads.

This may not come as a surprise for Americans in New York, however, as BTS recently performed to a sold-out crowd in Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center for their WINGS Trilogy World Tour. The concert was interrupted briefly by the arrival of the bomb disposal unit after false alarms triggered by ARMY lightsticks called ARMY bombs being sold at the site, Koreaboo reported.

BTS also posted a landmark achievement as it became the first K-pop group to take home a Billboard Music Award (BBMA) for Top Social Artist beating the likes of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes for the honor. The group managed to post a record-breaking 300 million votes to win the award, Korea Portal reported.
