‘Bride Of The Water God' New Teaser Pays Homage To Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Romeo + Juliet'

TvN has released another teaser for the highly anticipated television series adaptation of “Bride of the Water God”. The new teaser features a familiar scene from an iconic movie.

The latest trailer for the up and coming drama series, “Bride of the Water God” pays tribute to one of the most memorable scenes in romance films. The said teaser featured Nam Joo Hyuk and Shin Se Kyung as they exchange looks through an aquarium. This familiar scene is inspired by the 1996 film, “William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet”.

The said movie starred Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, which was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. The film was well-known for its modern outtake of the said tragedy but the scene where the two star-crossed lovers finally met was one of a kind. The scene that “Bride of the Water God” borrowed was when Romeo and Juliet accidentally met through an aquarium and first laid eyes on each other, sparking the love story that was destined to be doomed.

In the teaser for “Bride of the Water God”, Nam Joo Hyuk says in his thoughts that he has been looking for a long time for his servant as he fondly looks at Shin Se Kyung. Nam Joo Hyuk plays the role of the water god named Ha Baek and Shin Se Kyung will portray the role of a psychiatrist and his love interest, So-Ah. The said romance drama series will also star f(x) member Krystal Jung who will play the role of the goddess and actor Lim Ju-hwan who will portray Ha Baek’s rival, Hoo-Ye.

The “Bride of the Water God” television series is based on the manwha or visual novel created by Yun Mi Kyung, which was published from 2006 up to 2014. TvN confirmed the adaptation last month and revealed that the series will air every Monday and Tuesday, taking over the time slot allotted for “Circle”. The new tvN series will debut on July 3.
