Rookie Sei Young Kim Wins Blue Bay LPGA For Her Third Victory In The Season

South Korea’s Sei Young Kim is still fairly new to the golfing world, but there’s no doubt she’s making a name for herself.

The 22-year-old golfer won for the third time in her rookie season with her victory at Blue Bay LPGA on Sunday, according to The Associated Press.

Kim started off the day tied with Candie Kung for the lead, but then shot a final round of 2-under 70 to secure a victory over Kung, Kim Kaufman and Stacy Lewis, according to Yahoo Sports. Kim reportedly made a 6-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th for her victory.

“I was like really nervous on the last putt," Kim said.

“I can hear my heart pound."

Kim reportedly beat out world number one Lydia Ko, who shot 2-under 70 in the final round, making her way to eighth place. The recent win reportedly leaves Kim behind Ko and Inbee Park for most wins on the LPGA this season.

Third-ranked Stacy Lewis reportedly finished with a 70 for the 21st season of her career. As a player that reportedly won the last of her 11 LPGA tour titles in June 2014, she was major competition to those who played this season.

“She is one of my favorite players, so I'm very honored to play with her," Kim said about Lewis.

“But I win, she still is my idol."

Kim reportedly won the playoffs this year in the Bahamas and Hawaii. She is reportedly expected to jump from 11th to eighth in the world due to the success of the recent season.

“This year my target was just three wins, so I feel very fulfilled," Kim said.

“I also come through rookie of the year, so I would be very honored to win that."

Despite the major success of this season, Kim hasn’t stopped setting the bar even higher for herself.

"The first goal is Olympic gold medal. Then my next goal is No. 1," Kim said.
