“War For The Planet Of The Apes” 2017 Movie Marks Conclusion Of Trilogy Not End Of Franchise, Producer Teases Future

The "War for the Planet of the Apes" 2017 film might be the conclusion to the trilogy but does this also mean the end of the franchise? With a franchise as long as the "Planet of the Apes" series, one would assume that the film series will eventually be coming to an end.

While that conclusion may be partially true, it doesn't necessarily mean there won't be more films stemming from the decades-old series. According to CinemaBlend, "War for the planet of the Apes" 2017 movie producer Peter Chernin discussed about the film's future.

Chernin shared that the "Planet of the Apes" trilogy is indeed coming to a close. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" marked the first of the trilogy when it revitalized the franchise back in 2011. Chernin confirmed that the upcoming film will serve as a closure to the conflict between humans and apes, as well as main ape antagonist Caesar's personal vendetta.

Even though the end is certain for the trilogy, Chernin decided to keep the franchise's future open. The "War for the planet of the Apes" 2017 producer teased that the trilogy's conclusion does not mean entirely killing-off the series. "Not to say it's the end of the "Apes" movies", Chernin added.

Furthermore, the recently revealed "War for the planet of the Apes" trailer was emphasizing the idea behind ending the trilogy with its tag line "witness the end." According to Collider, the trailer itself only showed a few glimpses of actual footage from the movie.

The rest of the "War for the planet of the Apes" trailer featured narration from classic "Planet of the Apes" actor Charlton Heston. When it comes to storytelling, the "War for the planet of the Apes" plot represents an appropriate end to a trilogy that successfully translated the aging series to modern times. It won't be a surprise if this only marks the beginning of even more trilogies to come.
