Liza Soberano Faces Backlash For Sarcastic Tweets on BTS
Fans have slammed Filipino actress Liza Soberano following her controversial tweet against the BTS band. The comment from the actress has come following the love that the band received from the Philippines during its "WINGS" world tour.
While the Philippines population welcomed the Bangtan Sonyeondan band wholeheartedly, Liza Soberano had a shocking surprise for the Korean artists. On May 6, the actress posted a question that invited huge backlash from BTS fans. "BTS as in behind the scenes?" the actress tweeted.
Although the tweet received a huge attention and managed to get 43,000 likes, BTS fans and followers have slammed Liza Soberano for what she wrote on her social media account. Many fans were surprised to know that the actress did not know about the band. The model admitted that she wrote the message out of sarcasm and she did not intend to make the band or its artists inferior. She used the statement as her defense. "People wouldn't know sarcasm even if it slapped them right in the face," Liza said.
One of the BTS fans called Liza Soberano a "popular ghost" in the Philippines. Some of the fans' comments depicted that they felt blessed as the actress was not interested in the band members. "This tweet just made PH ARMYs very happy. Thank God, you don't know them. Deym, fangirls now have higher chances," BTS fan Jihan said.
BTS flew to Manila, the Philippines, for "The Wings Tour's" two-day concert scheduled over the weekend at SM MOA Arena. This is not the first time when Liza Soberano caught the attention of an artist and fans. Prior to this, she was the center of attraction for The Vamps artists - Charley Puth and James Mcvey - while they performed in Manila. Mcvey, the lead guitarist praised the actress earlier by calling her lovely.
