Honor 9 set for release later this year.

May 6th, 2017: Honor is a famous sub-brand in the Asian sub-continent. The brand is famous for producing budget and quality smartphones with the top of the line features. Honor is the sub-brand of the Chinese technological giant Huawei. The latest Honor 8 pro handsets created a lot of buzz in the smartphone market because of their exciting new features and attractive new prices.

In a recent leak by The Tech Point, a new photo of the Honor 9 shows the obvious lack of a headphone jack. The bottom of the phone consists of a USB C type port and speaker grills. Honor has adapted the USB type C port for quite some time now and will probably use the same for audio output for headphones.

Losing the headphone jack on The iPhone 7 came as a surprise move for many. Although many suspect the move to be unnecessary, I believe Apple was simply getting the negative reactions out of the way before the final release of the year.

Industry experts did predict the saturation in the size department of smartphones. According to many of them, smartphones were as thin as they could have been. Any less space would require the removal of the headphone jack.

The removal of the headphone jack is a move for the future and plans on accommodating the rise in the use of Bluetooth headphones in today's modern age.

If the leak holds to be true and Honor ditches the headphone jack, it won't be long before Huawei follows in the same footsteps. The recent move to ditch the headphone jack faced a lot of backlashes which quickly subsided after the iPhone 7's release. People soon realized the advantages of ditching the headphone jack like waterproofing, smaller size, and wireless headphones. The same could happen in Honor's case as well.
