Lee Hyori will star in the upcoming reality TV show, "Hyori's Home Stay."  According to Soompi, applications have begun for the JTBC interactive variety show. Much to the producers' surprise, approximately 17,000 people submitted their application forms in an attempt to experience what Lee Hyori's life is like in Jeju Island.

The application for "Hyori's Home Stay" opened on April 20. Two weeks later, on Thursday, May 4, director Jung Hyo Min told the publication that he did not anticipate the huge turnout. "Of course I did not know that these many people would sign up," he told Naver.

Meanwhile, the team behind the variety show is no longer accepting applicants. As of late, the applicants are already being screened. Those who will be selected will have the chance to appear in the first episode of "Hyori's Home Stay." In the practice of fairness, Jung Hyo Min said that all of the applications they received will be reviewed thoroughly.

"We are reviewing each one of the stories sent to in by applicants meticulously and with care. For potential participants, I am not looking at the story, but at the person," he said. Additionally, Jung Hyo Min revealed that the contestants that they will be selecting are those that could make up for a good TV show. These are the people who are interesting and fun to talk to and be around with.

In other news, there were rumors saying that some celebrities also submitted their application to be featured in "Hyori's Home Stay." Jung Hyo Min may have just indirectly confirmed the speculations by saying that the non-celebrities and celebrities applying for a spot will receive the same fair treatment.

"There is no advantage given to celebrity applicants. They are placed on the same level of consideration as the other applicants in the casting process," he said.

"Hyori's Home Stay" is slated for release sometime this year.
