Nintendo Switch Launch Event - Day 2

"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is the fastest selling game for Nintendo Switch. Recently, Nintendo has added a smart steering and auto-accelerate features in the game for Nintendo Switch players. The latest features will enable the players to play the game with one hand only by setting the steering to default speed and direction.

The smart steering and auto-accelerate mode for "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" are designed to provide ease to the players who are physically disabled. Recently, a father of three has shared his kids' experience on Reddit and ideas to play with Nintendo Switch. The father described that the smart steering and auto-accelerate mode make it possible for his 4-year-old disabled daughter to play the game with complete ease.

The key element of any video game is accessibility which can be easy overlook in the case of disabled people. Most of the games of Nintendo Switch used audio and visual cues to input hand and eye coordination. But when it comes to kids with special needs, the hand and eye coordination will not work in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" to control the steer with the left hand and accelerate the kart with the right.

Fortunately, there are developers like Nintendo Switch who have considered the options of smart steering and auto accelerate in order to help kids that are having special needs. Keith the father of three exclaimed that in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," Molly can get it all done with a single Joy-Con. She knew the game from watching her older sister play it on the Wii U, which her parents recently traded in to buy the Switch.

The overwhelmed father even added that Nintendo Switch hasn't stopped her from playing flying across the stacks of fluffy, iced pastry on her favorite "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" track either. He further exclaimed that he would love to see more features like this added in the future. You can enable the smart steering by clicking the "Use Item" or "L" button on the left, and auto-accelerate mode by clicking the "Drift" or "R" button on the right side of your Joy-Con.
