April 24th: Nintendrew, a YouTube blogger, and gamer recently released a video which showcases him turning his Nintendo Switch into a VR headset. Nintendrew decided to take the matter into his own hands after there was no move from Nintendo towards a VR version of the Nintendo Switch.

Watch the video -------here.

Nintendo has been noncommittal in the field of virtual reality. The company had filed for a patent last year that turned the Nintendo Switch console into a VR device. Sadly, we are still waiting to hear from Nintendo about the same, and it doesn't seem that the company plans to implement this patent any time soon.

In the video, Nintendrew explains why he wants to use Nintendo Switch as a VR device. Nintendrew decided to use a Durovis Dive 7 headset for his Nintendo Switch. Durovis Dive 7 is a VR headset that is compatible with most of the tablets out there. The YouTube star is then seen using the hidden web browser to navigate to YouTube.

Nintendrew had uploaded a properly formatted video of gameplay of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He then uses this video to check the VR capabilities of the Nintendo Switch. The blogger found the video to be working with some issues with video quality which was probably due to the width of the screen in question.

Nintendrew then goes on to point out a recent video with the Nintendo President: Tatsumi Kimishima. The interview has the President explaining the issues the company currently faces with VR technology.

According to the President of Nintendo, the company wants the device to be comfortable while it is being worn for longer periods of time. Most headsets out there get sweaty and unusable as the time passes. It is this obstacle that the company wants to overcome, before jumping into the realm of VR.
