‘Paddington 2’ Movie Confirmed; Release Date Announced? Film Set To Be A Franchise?
"Paddington" the animated movie will have a sequel, "Paddington 2," with plans of making the children's books series into a movie franchise.
Director Paul King was strongly convinced by the film distributor StudioCanal, and the producer David Heyman because of the success of the movie at the box office. Paul King has been confirmed to take on the director seat alongside with Simon Farnaby as his co-writer, reported on Cinema Blend.
"Paddington" was adapted from Michael Bond's books that began in 1958, a film that is touching in many factors making it a good movie especially for younger audiences, according to Slash Film.
Studio Canal made a huge decision to make it all out for the "Paddington" movie financing it with $55 million. The decision proved to be a good benefit to the company as the movie reached $76 million in United States and brought great success last fall from the international market, Cinema Blend reported.
"Paddington" will stand as a career lifter for director Paul King, as critics have assumed, if the film will garner a big success for the "Paddington 2." The director is known for only one film credit with the independent comedy film "Bunny and the Bull." The producer of the movie, Heyman, is added to the family-friendly clique who developed the famous "Harry Potter" series, according to Deadline.
The character Paddington is equipped with his coat, hat and his suitcase full of tricks. He's also a role model for courtesy and politeness even though he often gets into trouble with marmalades. The fans have already had a glimpse of his background story from the first film and there's still "plenty of material to cover", according to Cinema Blend.
