‘GOT7’ Music Copied by ‘Produce 101’ Center Boys According to Netizens

Another controversy has started about “Produce 101” center boys and this time, the group is accused of copying “GOT7” music. Many netizens have noticed that the “Produce 101” self-composed song is very similar to the song “Hard Carry” by “GOT7. The new song was featured on the 15th episode where the group finally had the chance to perform to the public.

According to reports, Lee Dae Hwi, who is “Pick Me” stage’ center boy, said that he was the one who wrote the song while choreography was done by Park Woo Jin, who is also a part of the group. But after the show has aired nationwide, many netizens noticed that the song sounds very similar to the song from “GOT7”. Moreover, even the choreography was very much alike the one in“GOT7” song too.

The video now has over 300,000 views with more than 2,000 comments. Most of the top comments says how familiar the song sound, particularly to “GOT7” “Carry”. One Korean’s comment is translated to “Are you kidding me? Isn’t this Hard Carry by GOT7?” while another Korean user said “Plagiarism must be clarified ..... It seems like an ongoing problem”

While the similarities have disappointed many netizens, some fans are quick to voice out their encouragement for the group too. Supporters claim it's nothing like “Carry” and commented how they like the “Produce 101” song and performance. Unfortunately, there was just too many negative comments, all saying how the group copied the other band’s song.

The boy band is from Mnet’s “Produce 101” second season. The first season of the show featured girl groups from different agencies which explain why the second season focuses on male groups. However, many of top agencies including JYP, SM and YG have decided not to bring their trainees in the second season.
