‘Minecraft’ Marketplace: Here’s How it Works and How Creators Can Earn
“Minecraft” has recently announced a new feature, Minecraft Marketplace, where players can earn by selling their created items. This includes maps, mini-games, texture packs, and any other user-created game content. Players can purchase the items using an in-game currency called Minecraft Coins and this feature will come in both Windows 10 and mobile platform.
The new update will come this spring, included in the “Discovery” update. Mojang developer said the concept of the new marketplace is to provide an income from the game so the creators can build bigger projects. At the same time, it also gives player more variety and content to enjoy in the game. Mojang also assures that the free community creations will still be there so players can still enjoy all the free downloadable content available today.
At the new feature’s launch, a number of new content will already be available from well-known modders and anyone who is interested in joining can still submit as long as they have a registered business. The “Discovery” update will also include some of the missing elements in the game including the shulkers, llamas, spooky woodlands mansions, spectral vexes and even the ill-natured villagers.
As for the players, they can start purchasing the content in the new marketplace using the in-game currency. The exchange rate will be $1.99 for 300 coins, $4.99 for 840 coins, and $9.99 for 1,720 coins. As of today, Mojang already has nine creators confirmed to release content as the new marketplace launches but they assure everyone that the number will grow over time.
The company is now expanding their team, making sure they provide quality content for the marketplace. At the same time, they also want to grow their team so they are now adding partners to make the new feature, Minecraft Marketplace, work better.
