'Orange Is The New Black' Season 5 Release Date, Updates: Show Returns To Netflix On Summer, Introduces New Character

The new season of "Orange Is The New Black" returns on Netflix this summer. The upcoming season will feature a total of 13 episodes starting June 13. With the death of Poussey in season 4, there is really no news right now if she is going to be replaced by someone through a new character.

In the finale episode of season 4, Poussey was crushed to death by a prison officer when a commotion ensued inside the prison. In the next season of "Orange Is The New Black," Danielle Brooks who plays the character of Taystee said that scenes are going to be intense and very detailed, Heat World reported.

It will primarily deal with the aftermath of Poussey's death and its effects on her bestfriend Taystee, and girlfriend, Soso. Kimoki Glenn who plays the character of Soso said her character may not have an easy time to deal with the concern at hand. On the other hand, the effects of postpartum depression to Dana who just gave birth to her child may also be explored in the upcoming season of "Orange Is The New Black."

Though some may expect a new character could be introduced in replacement of Poussey, no hints or clues have been made by the production. Fans should expect that Piper (Taylor Schilling), Red Kate Mulgrew), Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Sophia (Laverne Cox) and Alex (Laura Prepon) will be coming back to the prison drama.

Meanwhile, Uzo Aduba who plays Crazy Eyes in the series missed the wedding of co-star Samira Wiley. Aduba explained to People Magazine that she was in Atlanta filming a movie while the event was on going. She mentioned that although she was not able to physically attend Wiley's wedding, everyone from the show kept sending pictures to keep her updated.
