'The Big Bang Theory' Confirms Spin-off On 'Young Sheldon'; Cast & Crew Revealed Here

"The Big Bang Theory" spin-off is officially happening and fans will finally get to see the younger version of Sheldon Cooper. The spin-off is likely to come somewhere during 2017-2018. It will follow the life of Sheldon Cooper at the age of 9.

Given his intelligence, young Cooper is already in high-school as the starting point of the series. The spin-off is based out of East Texas where Sheldon is living with his family. Iain Armitage has been selected to play the role of the young and nerdy Sheldon Cooper.

Other key members of the series include Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan. While details are still awaited, reports on E! Online confirm that Perry would be playing young Sheldon's mom. In the original series, Laurie Metcalf portrays this character. Metcalf has already received an Emmy nomination for her work in the series.

Sheldon is back

Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon Cooper in the original series will be a part of this one too. Parsons will be the narrator of the series taking fans through the life of little Cooper. He will also be the executive producer of the series alongside Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Todd Spiewak. The series is titled "Young Sheldon" and is among the most eagerly awaited sitcoms.

What happens to "The Big Bang Theory"?

The series is already in its tenth season and reports confirm that the contracts of the key stars are coming to an end. There is a possibility that Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg will take a pay-cut for the upcoming season.

This will allow the makers to give co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch gets a salary bump. As of now, the new deals are not yet finalized so the future of the series for the next season continues to remain uncertain. But with "Young Sheldon", anxious fans have something interesting to look forward to.
