‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: New Character Just Confirmed Fans' Theory Is Right All Along
"Game of Thrones" season 7 includes veteran actor Jim Broadbent, but his role remains a mystery until recently. The actor spilled the beans that he will be playing as the archmaester, which fans have theorized back in August when Broadbent was cast.
Broadbent was directly asked by ScreenCrush about his character for the HBO TV series. The actor tried to duck the question during the interview, but he gave a straightforward answer eventually. He said, "I'm a maester, an archmaester. I'm an old professor character," Cartermatt reports.
The newest "Game of Thrones" cast also added that he will be playing a significant character and not just a one-off episode type. Broadbent added that he already performed one major scene for five episodes out of the seven episodes for the whole upcoming season.
Fans were also able to deduced that it was his character that Sam Tarly (John Bradley) has been waiting for during the last few scenes of the previous season. The show's devotees are gunning for a character named Maester Marwyn, one of the Citaedel's archmaesters.
Obsessed book readers now suspect that Broadbent's character will be the one to find and convince Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) to go up and fight in the North. Fans are also aware how HBO is secretive about its show, plus the fact that the adaptation is well ahead of its book. Therefore, they can only wait for the season to start before they can prove if their theory is right.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 is rumored to premiere sometime in July and is expected to have one more season after this year. However, the show's creators have already hinted that they are interested in creating possible spin-offs based on the highly successful television fantasy drama, Gamespot added.
Broadbent is one of Britain's talented and most versatile actors. He won the Best Supporting during the BAFTA Awards for 2011 for the small biopic "Iris." He also appeared in "Moulin Rouge" and played as Professor Horace Slughorn on the "Harry Potter" movie series. Watch the "Game of Thrones" season 7 teaser trailer during the 2017 Comic-Con:
