Millions of fans have been very excited for the new episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 12. However, new reports are claiming that the popular series could possibly face a cancellation after its significantly plummeting ratings following the departure of Thomas Gibson.

Enstars reported that "Criminal Minds" Season 12 is currently in tough times due to its plunging ratings. According to the news outlet, this could possibly be the effect of the #NoHotchNoWatch movement organized by fans who got frustrated after Thomas Gibson got terminated from the production.

It can be recalled that actor Thomas Gibson got fired before "Criminal Minds" Season 12 aired after having some issues with Virgil Williams. According to the news outlet, the veteran actor got into an argument when he refused to deliver some lines written in the script.

Speculations have it that the "Criminal Minds" Season 12 producer-writer possibly got offended when Thomas Gibson tapped the Virgil Williams' leg. After the said incident, the 54-year-old actor got suspended and was later on kicked out from the show.

"I feel like it took years to make a good reputation and a minute to damage it," Thomas Gibson has revealed to PEOPLE. "He came into that room and started coming towards me. As he brushed past me, my foot came up and tapped him on the leg," the veteran star has recounted what happened during the incident with "Criminal Minds" Season 12 writer-producer, Virgil Williams.

The actor has revealed that he really got hurt when he was terminated from the show, saying, "My pride and reputation are hurt, but in the end I know the good work is what people will remember." However, ABC and CBS have made it clear that Thomas Gibson will be appearing in the first two episodes of the "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

Up until now, it remains to be seen if Thomas Gibson will be coming back in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 after getting terminated. However, some fans suggest that the management could possibly consider this due to the show's significant ratings drop.
